A Closer Look At The Three Main Characters Of Popular Spanish For Children DVD Dora The Explorer

Dora The Explorer is a truly well liked Spanish for children DVD series which was created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner. Ever since it appeared on the Nickelodeon cable TV network in 2000, it has grown continuously in appreciation, prompting a Spanish-dubbed version in 2006.

But what makes Dora The Explorer such an entertaining series for children is its fascinating and adorable characters. Here, we take another look at 3 main characters of the series and find out as to why children just love them.

Dora
The primary personality in this popular Spanish for children DVD is none other than Dora. Dora is a seven year old Latina who goes on a new journey in each episode to either to find things or to help folks. She is usually accompanied by her best friend Boots The Monkey and the show’s opponent – Swiper The Fox.

In each episode, children learn many things from Dora. I admire the fact that aside from sharing her culture and teaching spectators Spanish words and phrases, she usually has a positive view on everyone she meets, whether or not the person she meets has questionable ambitions. This teaches kids not to discriminate and to always find a friendly solution to any problem that may pop up.

Dora also provides the voice of reason when her best friend, Boots The Monkey, comes to a decision to throw circumspection to the wind and embark on his little adventure . This subtly teaches youngsters not to react too swiftly especially when their parents decide to not let them do something as there is maybe a good reason behind it.

Boots The Monkey
Boots The Monkey is Dora’s best friend, frequently accompanying her on her travels. He gets his name from the red boots he wears and loves. As mentioned earlier, Boots, more frequently than not, gets in a bit of trouble. But he gets out of it with some help from spectators and Dora, of course.

Boots is extremely enthused and dynamic. He does all sorts of stunts like flips and somersaults during their journeys and is more than happy to help Dora answer puzzles, riddles and clues.

Swiper The Fox
Swiper The Fox likes to steal Dora’s things. But after all the trouble he puts Dora through, Dora still treats him like a mate. This comes to light when Swiper finds himself in trouble and calls to Dora and Boots for help.

I feel many children can easily relate to Swiper’s naughty techniques since kids have a propensity to be same. But just as significantly, the relationship Swiper has with Dora teaches kids about true friendship as well as forgiveness.

Conclusion
The Dora The Explorer Spanish DVDs for children set is excellent for teaching children Spanish language and culture. What is unique about this Spanish for children DVD series is it also teaches kids what friendship actually means.

In summary :

  • The characters of the series help kids understand the importance of thinking things through
  • It also teaches kids about friendship
  • The Dora The Explorer DVD series is very entertaining
