Aragorn or pirate costume?
should I be Aragorn or a pirate for Halloween? (please consider factors like simplicity, being able to use things from around the house, and cost before answering.) I’m 16 and most likely will be able to dress up for school. what would be good things to have for either, including makeup, and where are good places to get them if I don’t have them?
I know for Aragorn, there’s the cape (already have from a Frodo costume), shirt, pants, boots, sword (will have to be plastic) and scabbard, dagger (?) with scabbard (need help with scabbard), and what else?
for pirate costume, sword (again, plastic) with scabbard, eyepatch, various makeup, pirate-like clothes…what else?
or if there is something else you can think of that has to do with fencing, stick fighting, karate, or Lord of the Rings, feel free to suggest it

Dreamer- I do fence, and I have been doing so for 3 years this month.
I’d say go as Aragorn! Be one of the few Aragorns out there. For makeup, you could use eyeliner and make short strokes for the beard and mustache, I’ve never done that before so I don’t know if it would work.

You can’t really see the pants in this, just something neutral colored. Since you already have the cape there is that, instead of the coat. He has leather gauntlets on his arms, they have fancy embroidery on them. He also has on chainmaille, though that would be waaaay to dificult to find. His belt is really long and tied funny on the buckle. He is wearing a long vest over a white or brown shirt. For the white shirt and vest, I would say go to a thrift store. I have found those sorts of things at thrift stores before. Don’t get scared by the horrible clothing from the 70′s and 80′s. For the boots, I have no idea. Thrift store maybe?
Pirate costumes are easy to make, just get a too big white or brown top, a vest or corset or fake corset, cut up some pants, and I still have no idea where to get the boots. Also a big belt with a big buckle and lots of pirate booty, like pearls and jewelry and rings. Don’t forget a scarf. And voila.
