80s Costumes Are Still Remembered

80s costumes still get you noticed. Walk into a costume party or dress up for Halloween, and you will get your share of admiring glances. The fashion of the 80s was so bold and vibrant. Movies from the 80s and the music were also memorable.

Ladies can wear the sweatshirt with a large neck hole that became popular with Flashdance. This was also the movie that made legwarmers popular. From this movie, of course, was the famous song ‘What A Feeling’ by Irene Cara.

When it is about 80s outfits for women, Madonna influenced the pop scene of the 80s and also the fashion scene. Consider dressing up a Madonna. There were the skirts over capri pants, lace tops, jewelry, bracelets, fishnet stockings and bleached hair. This was also the period when liquid leggings were fashionable. Neon colored clothes were the fad,and these were match with accessories.

Men do not have to feel left out. There was the hip hop and rapper styles which were the 80s trend. Men also wore chunky jewelry. The early 80s were the time for baggie jeans, hoodies and track suits. This however changed in the late 80s, when sophisticated pink blazers, polo shirts and track suits took over.

Michael Jackson was one of the most successful male artists of the 1980s. Dress up like Michael Jackson and break in song with a few dance moves, and you are sure to get attention. His leather jacket and Moonwalk dance moves are so well known.

Major clothing trends of this period were jean jackets, shoulder pads, leather pants, skin-tight acid-washed jeans, miniskirts, leggings and legwarmers. There were also the headbands, sunglasses, Swatch watches, slap bracelets in many colors, and the Rubik’s cube was popular during the 80s.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

$5.14

More is not necessarily better. A glitzy Hollywood cast and a big budget did not improve the wonderful 1957 teleplay (or its equally charming 1964 remake) upon which this version is based. This is partly because Brandy, cast in the title role, cannot act. Not helping matters are Whoopi Goldberg as the prince’s mother and Jason Alexander as his valet. Their shtick wears thin very quickly. However, …
